Car Maintenance Introduction

Course Overview: Keeping a car on the road today can be an expensive business. Not only do you have to pay for the road tax, insurance and petrol but you also have to fork out a small fortune to a garage every time something goes wrong with it!! But why pay for the repairs when you could do them yourself? With the UK Open Learning Car Maintenance course, you can learn all about what really goes on under the bonnet. From the fundamentals such as the basics of the engine, through to the more complex elements like the components of the gear box, you’ll cover it all.

Pre Requisites: There are no entry requirements for this course, just a interest in the subject.

Support: As a UK Open Learning home student you will have full tutor support for a full 12 months from the day you receive the course, you can contact your tutor by e-mail and post.

Exam Details: Students are assessed through a series of tutor marked assignments based on their application of the course content. The assignments take the form of a series of structured questions. There is no word count for these assignments however you do have to prove to your tutor that you have fully understood the question asked, and one sentence answers will be rejected, and you will be asked to re-submit it again for marking.

Key Jobs: The course is ideal for anyone considering a job as a motor mechanic and does not have any experience.
