Is it right for me?
A course for tree surgeons who want to develop their skills in tree pruning techniques for mature trees.

What qualifications will I need?
Unit 30 ' Chainsaw maintenance.
Unit 31 ' Fell small trees.
Unit 38 ' Climb trees and perform aerial rescue.
Unit 39 ' Operate chainsaw from rope and harness.
Students must be aged 16 or over on 1st September of the year in which the course starts. Tetanus protection is recommended.

What will I be learning about?

• Health and safety
• Crown thinning
• Crown reduction
• Selection of tools and equipment

What materials are required?
Chainsaw boots. Writing materials.
PLEASE NOTE: All students must bring a passport size photograph and their national insurance number on the first day of their course.

What is next?
Unit 41 ' Carry out dismantling operations, sectional felling and use of climbing irons.

How will I be assessed?
By an external assessor on the final day of the course.
