Is the course for me?
This exciting and successful course helps equip you with counselling skills to use within your current job role, either paid work or on a voluntary basis. This course also allows you to progress onto the Diploma in Counselling.

What will I learn?
The course aims to develop an understanding of the theory of the Person-Centred Approach to counselling. You are introduced to two other approaches to compare and contrast to the core model. Students will explore the ethical issues around counselling, develop counselling skills through recording fellow students and review the skills of their peers. This course also involves exploring feelings, values and beliefs in a personal development group to allow for growth and to raise self-awareness. You must also attend a two-night personal development residential weekend, this is not included in the course and is an additional cost of approximately £140.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through the following methods: A 2,000 word essay on the theory of counselling; A 2,000 word essay on the professional context of counselling; A 2,000 word personal development statement; A 30 minute skills tape with a 2,000 word case study.

What can I do after the course?
You can progress onto the Access to Level IV Diploma in Counselling.
