About the course:
This is a Fast Track blended learning course, one evening a week, comprising 50% distance learning and 50% class-room based learning.
The modules studied are:
Practice in Context Mid Jan - Mid Feb
Setting up Employment Contracts Mid Feb - Early April
Managing the Employment Relationship Early April - May
Managing the Exit from Employment Early June - Early July

Studying for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Certificate in Employment Relations and Law and Practice at the Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College (EHWLC) gives you a thorough overview of employment law structures, processes and systems and enables you to:
- develop skills required in employment practice
- understand the work of employment practice often carried out within Personnel/Human Resources departments
- understand and be able to use legal frameworks to assess your organizations employment law practices and procedures
apply your knowledge to give practical advice and guidance on employment law issues to line managers and to contribute to policy formation with more senior HR colleagues

Additionally, you will develop an awareness of the context of employment practice and the key issues that impact on employment practice.
The course and qualification provide a platform for further studies in employment law or personnel management. The CIPD Certificate in Employment Relations, Law and Practice is over one evening per week for 6 months. Allocating self-study time is as important as attending the class.
When you enrol on the course, you will join the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (additional fee is payable) if you are not already a member. As a CIPD member, in addition to the college†s own Learning Web, you have access to the resources available on the CIPD and to the dedicated Human Resources Library at Institute's Wimbledon headquarters.

By studying for your CIPD qualification at EHWLC you benefit from the expertise and experience of highly qualified tutors, all of whom have relevant experience as well as teaching qualifications and CIPD qualifications. The college provides extensive support for our students: small class sizes; experienced, dedicated staff and access to course information and other materials via the internet. In addition, your tutor is available for 30 minutes before every session for individual student support. Tutors are also available to answer queries by email and can be consulted at pre-arranged times outside of the pre-session timeslot if required.

Assessment:
The CIPD Certificate in Employee Relations Law and Practice is awarded on successful completion of a work-based project, two written assignments and two skills based assignments, plus a continuing professional development plan/log. Assessments are verified and agreed by a CIPD moderator to ensure the high standards of the CIPD are attained. Because the project is work-based you will need access to company HR/Training information to complete this effectively.

After the course:
Successful completion of the course not only gives you a recognised qualification in Employment Relations, Law and Practice and makes you eligible for Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, but enables progression onto other CIPD Professional Standards Qualifications.
