Is the course for me?
This course will qualify you to teach in Post Compulsory Education and Training and is endorsed by LLUK (Lifelong Learning UK). The course is delivered on a part time basis over two years and is available either one half day per week or one evening per week.

What will I learn?
Year one (level 4) comprises of four modules: Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Embedded Threshold award at level 4), Planning and Enabling Learning, Planning and Enabling Assessment, Continuing Personal and Professional Development 1 and Theories and Principles for Planning and Enabling Learning. Year two (level 5) comprises of the following modules: Continuing Personal and Professional Development 2, Curriculum Design for Inclusive Practice, Wider Professional Practice and Contemporary Issues in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Practical observation of your teaching forms a central part of the course and a total of four observations of your teaching practice will be undertaken each year.

How will I be assessed?
Students will be assessed using a variety of methods including: Assignments, presentations, practical observations of teaching practice, small scale practitioner research, CPPD file, specialist practitioner observation.

What can I do after the course?
On completion of the qualification, you will be required to work towards the achievement of QTLS status in line with LLUK requirements. Progression routes from the Certificate of Education include Foundation Degrees and BA honours degrees in a subject area related to Education.

This qualification is suitable if you are in a 'Full Teacher role' as defined by LLUK.
