Children's Care, Learning and Development NVQ 3

Is this course right for me?

This NVQ will confirm your competence in children's care, learning & development. It will allow you to gain formal recognition of your performance in the work place and assess your knowledge and understanding of the key areas of children's care.

What will I be learning?

This course will enable you to: develop and promote positive relationships, children's holistic development, healthy, safe and secure environments for children and children's rights. It will also provide you with the opportunity to reflect on and develop practice.

How will I learn?

NVQ's consist of gathering evidence to cover both knowledge and understanding and performance criteria. As well as attending College on a weekly basis you will be allocated a peripatetic assessor who will monitor and support work based learning. The course consists of 5 core units and 4 optional units.

You should aim to complete the learning over a year, although work based assessment may continue for an additional 6 months.

What else might I want to know?

Course fees advertised are for one year only. If you require an assessment visit over a 15 mile radius from South Devon College, a further fee will be payable.

What can I do afterwards?

On successful completion of this NVQ you may like to continue into Higher Education at South Devon College and apply for a place on the FdA Early Years Care and Education alternatively you could enter employment at a supervisory level.
