Course Details

This course is intended for learners wishing to train to become a qualified electrician but who do not have an electrical apprenticeship. Applicants must hold a City and Guilds 2330 Level 2 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology. The course builds on the technical knowledge and practical skills learners have gained in electrical installation work. Successful completion of the course will lead to the awarding of the City and Guilds 2330 Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology which is the nationally recognised Technical Certificate for the electrical installation industry. In order to fully qualify as an electrician, candidates would need to progress to an NVQ Level 3 programme in electrical installation engineering upon successful completion of this course. The course consists of three units: 301 - Application of Health and Safety and Principles of Electrotechnology (Stage 3) 302 - Installation (Building and Structures) and Inspection, Testing and Commissioning 303 - Fault Diagnosis and Rectification The course consists of a balance of theory and practical sessions to achieve the required learning outcomes. Assessment: The three units are assessed as follows: Unit 301 - by means of a multi-choice question paper Unit 302 - by means of a written examination paper and a practical assessment Unit 303 - by means of a written examination paper and a practical assessment.

Qualifications required:
