Course Details

The BTEC/EDEXCEL National Certificate in Engineering is designed to provide a broad foundation in Engineering at a technician level. This is an excellent engineering course giving you a good blend of theory and modern techniques used in modern engineering industry. Learners obtaining the certificate will be eligible to proceed to higher level courses at this College and other Higher Education Colleges and Universities. 1st year common units Business Systems for Technicians Communications for Technicians Mathematics for Technicians Engineering Design Electrical & Electronic Principles Mechanical Principles 2nd year units Electrical: Electronic Principles Further Elec. Principles PLCs Three phase systems Mechanical: Engineering Materials Computer Aided Design Hydraulics/Pneumatics Primary Forming processes 2nd year common units Engineering Project Further Mathematics

Qualifications required:
4 GCSEs grade C or above including Maths and Science or City and Guilds 2800. Mature learners are welcomed but may require a brief interview with the course tutor.

General stationery equipment. Assessment is by internal assignments that are designed to meet appropriate unit criteria. All students will require a scientific calculator for this course.
