This course is designed to prepare people for work in the occupation of Electrical Installation. It has been specifically developed for delivery in College using simulated conditions. Assessment is based on candidates demonstrating their knowledge and practical competence.

Course Content:

  • You will learn the key principles and major aspects of electrical installation, including

  • Working safely with others in electrical installation activities
  • Materials, storage and handling
  • Trade calculations
  • Associated electronics technology
  • Basic installation practices
  • & technology You will also have the opportunity to take part in enrichment activities, and take classes teaching important key skills and basic skills in communication, literacy and numeracy.

    Attendance Requirements:
    This course is available as a full time one year course and also as a two year evening course.

    Entry Requirements:

    Entry Process:
    All applicants will be interviewed prior to acceptance for the course. An interview will be arranged at the earliest opportunity after receiving your application.

    Assessment:
    Students undertake practical assessment tasks and an external City & Guilds multiple choice paper. A summary of the content: Installation work and regulations Industrial studies Science and principles Practical activities (workshop).

    Progression Routes:
    The course is considered to be a pre-apprenticeship qualification, gained before moving on to employment as an apprentice and completing NVQ Levels 2-3 on a part-time basis thereafter.
