Course aims:
As an essential qualification for many jobs and courses, GCSE English aims to develop your oral communication, language, reading and creative writing skills. GCSE English is essential in most workplaces and a basic requirement for courses of further study.
The course comprises the study of a variety of texts, the development of writing skills (including punctuation and spelling) and involvement in speaking and listening activities. As a substantial part of the GCSE final grade is dependent on coursework submission, much of the first part of the course will focus on producing this work.
Course content:
On this course you will:
- Improve your skills in writing, reading, speaking and listening
- Study a Shakespeare play
- Study a work of English literature
- Study texts from different cultures and traditions
- Learn to use English to explain, describe, narrate, give opinions, contrast, compare, review and comment

Tutors:
The Team Leader for Adult English and Maths and GCSE is Denise McGoochan.
Denise is a well qualified and experienced teacher of both English and Maths. All other tutors are fully qualified and used to working with adults.
