Course Description:
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is an internationally recognised certificate which confirms a level of competence in computer application based skills, and knowledge of the basic concepts of Information Technology (IT).

The course meets the needs of those who would like their knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications recognised in a formal qualification and whose skills need to be sufficiently broad to encompass all the activities within their job role.

Content
The ECDL qualification is offered in two parts,
ECDL Essentials (Level 1) and ECDL Extra (Level2). Candidates normally complete ECDL Essentials first before progressing onto ECDL Extra.

The course delivered within the Learning centre is ideal for those who would like their basic knowledge of the computer recognised in a formal qualification, but have limited time available around busy lifestyles. The format of the course is open learning supported by instructors, workbooks and group workshops. Attendance is flexible, and learners work at their own pace in a friendly, relaxed environment. The course can be studied at home or work as a distance learning option.

Assessment and Progression:
The course is structured around the use of Microsoft Office Windows and Microsoft Office applications. All tests are taken at the Learning Centre with an individual asessment for each of the modules. A new addition has been made to the ECDL with the introduction of syllabus 5 in the form of the "Improving Productivity Using IT" module in which candidates can demonstrate their new IT skills through work based scenarios.

Progression
Students who successfully complete the ECDL Level 2 may choose to progress onto the ECDL Level 3 Certificate.
