Course programme
We recognise that, for some people, returning to study can be daunting. Especially whilst holding down a job and meeting other commitments. With our help and support we know that you will rise to the challenge.
The Warwick Executive MBA sees you attend WBS for a week at a time at regular intervals to study a particular subject in depth. This route combines the flexibility of part-time study with the benefits of interactive learning and is perfect if you want to plan well ahead.
It's particularly suitable if your work involves a considerable amount of travelling, you are based overseas, or you are just really busy and need to schedule well in advance. It minimises disruption to both professional and personal commitments by getting all the teaching done in discrete residential blocks.
Face-to-face tuition is supplemented by extensive pre-reading, and post-module assignments. Most participants complete their studies in three years. However, it is possible to complete it in just over two if you are able to devote more time to study.
It's an immersive method of study using practice-oriented assessment. You'll not only use case studies, but also reflect on your own organisation and those of the other participants. Plus, you take your learning back into the workplace - immediately and practically.
Many participants on this mode are sponsored by their organisation. Both parties benefit from you having direct access to a business environment in which you can test and apply your new thinking and knowledge.
There are two annual intakes for this mode of study: Spring and Autumn. You can apply to us at any time, but your application should arrive by 10 August for the October intake, and in 10 January for the March intake.
You might choose to study elective modules at one of our partner business schools. Usually these are available on a five-day modular basis. If you have a particular interest in an organisation, country, or culture, you might also choose to undertake your management consultancy project in an organisation based overseas.
About 20 percent of our full-time participants spend three months on exchange studying in another country, either during the programme or immediately after it. Exchange places are limited, and people are chosen on a merit basis based on academic performance and whether they will be a good ambassador for WBS.
Exchanges take place at a variety of different times of year, depending on where you choose to attend. Many students undertake their exchange at the end of the Warwick MBA, extending their programme to 15 months in total.
Exchanges are often conducted in partnership with Partnership in International Management (PiM), a global network of 54 top business schools.
We'll give you a solid foundation for excellence in management and leadership through seven carefully chosen essential modules. You will be taught using a variety of methods including lectures, case studies, models, visits, simulations, and syndicate group-work. You will also have the opportunity to complete online assessments to monitor your own progress.
Core modules:
Full-time participants also complete The Practice of Management, a practical work-based module.
Elective modules
Six elective modules offer you the opportunity to focus your study in areas of particular personal interest.
Consultancy project & dissertation
Towards the end of your study programme, you will undertake a management consultancy project focusing on a real strategic problem facing your own organisation or that of a client. This will form the basis of your dissertation.
