Who is the course for?
The Foundation Degree in Business & Management is a high level, two year course, that provides the ideal stepping stone onto the final year of a degree programme and excellent career development opportunities. The Foundation Degree is an innovative degree, designed and delivered in partnership with employers to equip people with the relevant knowledge and skills for business. It is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in any form of business management or to progress onto professional qualifications such as accountancy, marketing or HR. The Foundation Degree allows a full time student to achieve a high level qualification with a graduation ceremony in just two years and successful completion guarantees a place on Edgehill University third final year where the student can then complete the full BA Hons degree.
The classes tend to be smaller than traditional university classes so students get more individual help and guidance, however students are also Edgehill students and have access to all their facilities. Foundation Degrees are also a cost effective way of obtaining a degree level qualification, fees are lower than most traditional degrees but the same financial support is available as other HE students. Financial help is available both with course fees and living costs and our specialist HE advisor can assist with all individual enquiries.

What is the course about?
The course is designed to provide students with the ability to apply a variety of business theories to real organisations. As the course has been designed in consultation with employers, the modules studied are practical and relevant to the workplace. Modules studied include Communication in Business, E-Commerce, Personal Development Planning, Managing Financial Information and Marketing.

Will I need anything else?
No specialist equipment is required.

How long & often do I attend?
Full and Part Time

Full Time:
The full time course is two years. The contact time in college is 2.5 days leaving plenty of time for part time work and study. In addition to college study, work experience is be an integral part of this course. Full time students will be allocated work placements which will provide valuable experience and reference opportunities. It means that you will have work experience which will help in finding employment at the end of your studies.

Part Time:
The course is 2 (3 hours each) evenings a week over 3 years.

How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed by a range of varied methods, which will include assignments, projects, case studies, presentations and examinations.

What opportunities will this lead to?
The Foundation Degree in Business & Management will allow you to progress to the third year of a BA(Hons) Degree at Edgehill University. It may also be used to develop career opportunities in many fields of business including: human resources, marketing, finance, accounts and administration.

Do I need qualifications?
You will require a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma, a BTEC Advanced GNVQ or at least one GCE A Level pass. These qualifications do not have to be business related. Mature candidates may be accepted without formal qualifications provided they have appropriate work experience, and appropriate levels of literacy and numeracy skills.
