Course Description
The Foundation Degree programme aims to develop students who have skills, knowledge and experience to enter the physical activity workforce to work with communities with diverse physical activity needs particularly in health promotion and local authority physical activity schemes. In partnership with local employers, this programme provides an excellent work based learning opportunities for students to gain a sound scientific background in health, exercise and fitness together with the ability to apply theoretical concepts in a clinical situation.
What you will Study
The course is being designed for those who have left school at 18 or mature applicants currently working in the industry wishing to pursue higher education qualifications or students wishing to have a change of career. Students wishing to apply should have a high degree of interest in physical activity interventions and working in the community with diverse population groups.
The Foundation Degree will be looking to cover the following course modules: Functional Anatomy & Exercise Physiology, Fitness Testing & Exercise Prescription, Nutrition for Health & Exercise, Exercise for Special Populations, Entrepreneurship, Benefits of Sport & Exercise in Society, Psychology of Exercise, Sport Injury & Rehabilitation, Principles & Practice of Exercise Programming and Fitness Management
