About this course
Students must have a minimum of grade C at GCSE or equivalent in the appropriate language, although a B or above is recommended. Additionally, in order to enroll upon a full-time A Level course, students are required to have 5 GCSEs at grade C or above.

Course Description:
Study of Modern Languages will help you to understand the language in speech and writing and to communicate confidently, as well as inform you about the contemporary society and culture of the countries studied.
Content
A systematic programme of consolidation and development of grammar and vocabulary accompanies the study of topics throughout the programme and all four basic skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing are practised intensively.

Assessment and Progression:
Students are assessed on an ongoing basis by means of regularly set tasks and formal reports on their progress are collated and upgraded by tutors at regular intervals. Assessment methods include listening, reading and writing tasks as well as coursework.
Progression
Successful completion of this programme, in combination with other suitable qualifications, will allow entry into a wide range of Higher Education programmes or employment.
Duration:
The AS course is a one-year programme, 2 hours per week in one session in the evening.
People studying for the A Level course will take the AS Level at the end of Year 1 and continue for a second year, 2 hours per week in the evening.
