Course content:
The aim of the course is to introduce learners to basic translation techniques for: English-French & French-English
By the end of the course students will be able to:
Translate with accuracy and authenticity a variety of text types
Consult appropriate reference works, including specialised dictionaries (internet: government pages from French speaking countries, specialised dictionaries, etc)
Use appropriate register and stylistic and structural features from the source text and transfer these to the target text.
Use appropriate translation strategies to overcome difficulties.

Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped, state-of-the-art Learning Centre. This includes free Internet access.

Assessment:
Tutor's feedback and portfolio with translations. Homework
