ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The one-year GCSE in Mathematics is a fast moving and demanding course. It requires commitment through regular attendance matched with two or three hours per week private study time.
Students embarking on the one year GCSE Mathematics course are expected to have obtained a Grade D in GCSE Mathematics or to have equivalent skills. Each student will be assessed for the suitability for the one year GCSE Mathematics by way of initial assessment.
Those students without a Grade D or equivalent skills will be directed onto a course in adult numeracy run by the basic skills area within the College or a more flexible Learn Direct course.
Part time students are advised to limit thier enrolment to just one GCSE course per year to maximise the likelihood of success.

Geometry: Including Pythagoras theorem and trigonometry, accurate drawing, scales and loci
Mensuration: Lengths, area and volume
Graphs: Including graphs of functions, distance-time graphs, conversion graphs
Algebra: Expressions and formulae, equations and inequalities

GCSE Mathematics is one of the most important academic qualifications for many areas of employment or many Further and Higher Education courses.
