This course is suitable for students of all ages. Students should hold a NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing Certificate and have current placement in a salon or have at least 5 years industrial experience with the appropriate hairdressing skills.

Hairdressing NVQ 3

The NVQ level 3 hairdressing qualification is for you.
This course aims to provide you with a high level of knowledge and operational skills for hairdressing building on skills that you will already have. It will build confidence and bring your creative skills to the fore. It will also develop the critical communicate skills and professionalism which will take you forward to the next phase of your career.
This course contains nine units that cover:
- G22- Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
- G18- Promote additional services or products to clients
- G21- Provide hairdressing consultation services
- GH16- Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
- Colour hair using a variety of techniques
- GH18- Provide colour correction services o GH19- Creatively style and dress hair o GH20- Creatively dress long hair o H32- Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities

Course Structure:
Full-time Monday & Tuesday or Part-time Monday afternoon/evening. This course will provide students with essential knowledge, skills and techniques required to perform Hairdressing treatments and tasks.
Subject delivery - Input of essential knowledge- Group and Individual Tutorial and Portfolio building, Skills related workshops, You must have a current 3 day per week placement in a salon You will be required to attending external exhibitions, enter relevant in-house shows, external hairdressing competitions and extra enrichment activities. You may be required to attend one evening a week

Course resources:
Excellent salon training environment; the latest products in the market are used at the college. All students have access to our fully equipped, state-of-the-art Learning Centre. This includes free Internet access.

Assessment:
Continuous assessments by observation of practical skills when you work on paying clients and informal and formal on line tests testing, there may be some written assignments and question papers. Portfolio of evidence. ESOL support is provided as required

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 (or £20 if you receive benefit) once per academic year.Materials costs:
£215 for hairdressing kit, access to internet resources, City & Guilds log book, t-shirts. Additional fee will be required for external trips
