If you are working in a care setting, this qualification will enable you to improve your ability as a care worker and further your employment and promotion prospects.
What will I be learning?
This course will help you to understand the units of the NVQ and provide the knowledge and understanding you need for the award. This will include communication, Health and Safety, assisting in the protection of the individual and promoting their rights. In addition to this you will be choosing optional units relevant to your Care setting.
How will I learn?
This is a work based NVQ where learners not only attend workshops at South Devon College but are assessed in the workplace performing real work activities. In addition to observation, there is a range of other methods of assessment such as expert witness observation, professional discussion, accounts and case studies. Assessors will negotiate the most appropriate methods to ensure all requirements are met.
What else might I want to know?
We will work very closly with your Employer and inform them of your ongoing progress with your course. Course fees advertised are for one year only. If you require an assessment visit over a 15 mile radius from South Devon College, a further fee will be payable.
What can I do afterwards?
On completion of this course, you may progress to Level 3 (providing you are working in a supervisory role) or the course will enable you to progress in employment in the specialist areas such as: drug and alcohol work, mental health work, youth justice, some generic areas of health, or social work.
