Aims of the Course
· To equip the Beauty Therapist with the necessary knowledge, skills and competences for a sustainable career path in the field of Beauty Therapy, both nationally and internationally.

Course Contents
The course has been designed to combine hands-on skills with the necessary anatomical science and related subjects.

Study towards 12 credits will comprise a mixture of both theory and hands-on practical experience, working with professional product ranges including Dermalogica, Sterex, RVB, Eve Taylor and Artiscent.

Mandatory units:
· Management and Practices of Facial Therapies
· Management and Practices of Body Therapies
· Anatomy and Physiology of the Human Body
· Employment Experience 1
· Beauty Therapy Graded Unit

· Spa Treatments 1
· Principles and Practice of Selling
· Product Knowledge
· Aromatherapy
· Electro-Cosmetic Therapy
· Reflexology
· Lifestyle Advice for Clients

Our commercial salons are open to the public to ensure a realistic working environment. You will develop and build your practical skills on clients.

Duration of the Course
Full time - 1 year.
Part time - 2 years day or evening option - subject to demand.

Progression
· The HND (Year 1) progression pathway leads into year 2 of HND Beauty Therapy (requires 15 credits).
· A wide range of potential employment opportunities exist for Beauty/Senior Therapists in Beauty Therapy Clinics/Salons; the Leisure Industry; Self-employment; Spa work and Retailing.

Course Materials
Course materials are essential for participation in this programme ie. workwear, beauty therapy kits, National Occupational Standards. Details will be provided at the pre-start event.
