This is a two year part-time (one day per week) course which aims to help students who already work in managerial roles in care to gain a qualification which recognises and develops their skills. The course will enable students to gain the knowledge of policy and management issues which will help them develop their careers. It also provides the underpinning knowledge for progression to NVQ.

Course Content

No examinations - continuous assessment.
Opportunities to work and learn in small groups, sharing knowledge and experience.

Student support available on site, from study skills support to training in use of the internet.
Career Prospects and Progression
Successful completion of the HNC award can lead to an opportunity to complete an NVQ Level 4, provided the candidate is in an appropriate job role. Students may be considered for the BSc Care Studies with additional higher education credits or on the basis of relevant work experience and training. Students should be able to use their qualification to seek promotion in their field.

Method of Assessment
No examinations. Assessment is continuous and by assignment.

The course is delivered over approx 6 hours (one day) per week, daytime only, in three terms a year for two years.
