Course Content
The HNC in Childhood Studies is a two year part-time course (one day per week) which aims to help students who already work with children to gain a qualification which recognises their skills. The course will enable students to gain the required theory and knowledge to work with children and young people, and the awareness of policy and professional issues which will help them develop their careers in care. The course leads to a Higher National Certificate validated by the University of Glamorgan and by Edexcel.
Course Features
Opportunities to develop many skills working in groups, making presentations, making practical resources, personal skills.
Learn in a small class with professionally qualified tutors.
Student support available on site, ranging from learning support for study skills, through to use of the internet and personal counselling.
Career Prospects and Progression
Students may develop their careers working with children, or progress to the Foundation Degree in Childhood studies or other professional training (e.g. teacher training, social work, nursing).

Method of Assessment
Each module is assessed separately by a variety of methods. Continuous assessment.
