· Course Overview: · The BTEC Higher National Certificates are level 4 qualifications designed to equip students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in employment or for progression to an undergraduate degree. Graphic Design is about communicating a visual message. Posters, magazines, newspapers, websites, even TV adverts are all jobs handled by the Graphic Designer. Our projects give you an insight into Typography, Illustration, Advertising and Multi-Media. The HNC can be studied in the day or evening on a part time basis. The course consists of ten units covering a wide range of vocational Graphic Design subjects. You will have access to the Apple Macintosh Suite offering industry standard software. Live commercial design work can be substituted for project based work to fulfil the units. HNC Students will study the following 10 units: Unit 1: Computer Application in Art & Design Unit 2: Historical & Contextual Referencing Unit 3: Professional Studies Unit 4: Ideas Generation Unit 5: Critical Study Unit 6: Ideas in Context Unit 7: Drawing Techniques and Approaches Unit 31: Business Practice Unit 22: Editorial Design Unit 23: Corporate Identity
