HORTICULTURE (AMENITY NVQ LEVEL 3)

Who is this course for?

This is the main award for people with experience of working within the horticulture sector who have supervisory or middle management responsibilities.

This course builds on the basic horticulture skills acquired at NVQ level 2 and extends the depth, range and scope of resource management skills to be acquired.

Nine units of cf competence are required to achieve full qualification:
  • Estimate resource requirements and programme work
  • Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security
  • Manage Yourself (management standards)
  • Specify and monitor landscape maintenance
  • Produce plants for decorative horticulture displays
  • Maintain and develop decorative horticultural display
  • Manage planted areas for their amenity value
  • Transplant large root-balled trees
  • Prepare and apply pesticide
  • Design landscape areas and specify materials and components
  • Assess the characteristics of sites
  • Lead the work of teams and individuals to achieve objectives.
