Course description
This course is designed to encourage students to develop competence in a wide range of first aid skills which could be used in the workplace.

Course Structure
This course is issued in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations, 1981. This Certificate is recognised in a workplace, and the certificate gained lasts for 3 years.

The course is run either at the Hub or the High Melton site of Doncaster College. It is run on â€-demand†so therefore a flexible course, and can be started at any time throughout the academic year.

The hours are fairly flexible and there are a total of 6 learning hours required.

Students will be encouraged to work in an investigative manner to help build their confidence to respond appropriately in a variety of situations.

There will be opportunities for students to practice the application of first aid techniques in a classroom situation and will be assessed for competency.

Topics covered will include:
  • Principles and practice of first aid
  • Duties of a first aid
  • Resuscitation
  • Care of unconscious casualty
  • Epilepsy
  • Shock
  • Bleeding
  • Head injuries
  • Heart Attack
