Course Description
The course is designed to meet the needs of people over the age of 18 who are planning a return to paid employment in an office environment. It will provide the skills required to work in office administration.
Course Structure
The course can be started either in September or February and includes a 1 week work placement with a local employer. The learner will be required to attend 3 days per week for 16 weeks.
The following subject areas will be covered:
- NVQ 2 in Business Administration
- Word Processing and File Management
- Spreadsheets and Graphs
- Databases
- Employment Skills
Learners will spend one day a week in a simulated office and will also use Information Technology to equip them to cope with modern office technology.

Course Progression
We offer various levels in courses including text processing, Clait and European Computer Driving License. Certificate in Administrative Management after gaining some administrative experience.
Career Prospects
- The majority of students who complete the course find work on a full or part-time basis in an office administration environment. After further study there may be further opportunities in a supervisory role.
