Is it right for me?
There is an ever increasing interest in ' and demand for ' Alternative Horsemanship Courses. This course will provide you with a basis for understanding equine behaviour and applying the principles of this understanding to some of the most important elements of working with horses on the ground. Six different aspects of 'Natural Horsemanship' are covered and are delivered in the following units, each lasting one day. You must complete the first unit in Equine Behaviour and can then enrol on any of the other units individually ' depending on your area of interest. All practical units will take place in a round pen.

What qualifications will I need?
This qualification is ideally suited for those candidates who have a genuine interest and passion in the care and welfare of horses.

What will I be learning about?
A general introduction to understanding what makes horses 'tick'. Looking at how evolution shapes the reactions we sometimes misinterpret as bad behaviour from our horses. A detailed look at how understanding herd behaviour and gestures are key to communicating with your horse. Using this understanding when working with your horse on the ground, in particular when working in a round pen. Applying some of these gestures used in a round pen will create a totally new level of respect between you and your horse, once they are 'hooked' onto you, and perceive you as a leader ' everything changes.

Further Alternative Horsemanship units, BHS specialist equine courses, BTEC National Diploma in Horse Studies and Foundation Degree Equine Behaviour and Welfare.

How will I be assessed?
A College Certificate will be awarded through a Register of attendance.
