The introductory level will include slab building, throwing on the wheel, press moulding and a range of decorative processes (e.g. slip decoration, glazing). Students will be expected to respond to tutor set assignment briefs, keeping a sketchbook record of inspiration and ideas development, in addition to health and safety notes. NB: once a learner has successfully completed a 10 week term.

Course Details
The introductory level will include slab building, throwing on the wheel, press moulding and a range of decorative processes (e.g. slip decoration, glazing). Students will be expected to respond to tutor set assignment briefs, keeping a sketchbook record of inspiration and ideas development, in addition to health and safety notes. NB: once a learner has successfully completed a 10 week term, they will be given opportunity to enrol for a further 10 weeks in the next term (subject to demand).

Progression:
On successful completion of the 10 week course students may wish to progress onto a further 10 weeks at the same level to extend their skills. Students with a strong portfolio may consider progression onto the NOCN Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design, the OCN Access Diploma (Art and Design) or Level 2 Edexcel Award in Visual Arts.
