About this course
All learners will need to complete an application form prior to enrolling.
A Level 2 Numeracy or a Grade C or above in GCSE must have been achieved.
Potential students who have not achieved this will be invited for an initial assessment to find our their current level and will be directed to study a basic skills course towards achieving their Level 2 in Numeracy.

Course Description
The examination is the AQA Modular Mathematics Higher level. Classes begin in September, November and March. Course Structure
Module 1: Handling data - 18% weighting. 1 calculator paper 30 minutes, 1 non-calculator paper 30 minutes.
Module 3: Number & Algebra - 27% weighting. 1 calculator paper 45 minutes, 1 non-calculator paper 45 minutes (using and applying number and algebra)
Module 5: Algebra, shape, space & measure - 55% weighting. 1 calculator paper 1hr 15 minutes, 1 non-calculator paper 1hr 15 minutes.

Access to HE Pathways, other Further Education courses, can be studied as an additional qualification to a full-time course
Course Career Prospects
- GCSE courses do not prepare you for a career as such, but many areas will be barred to you if you cannot demonstrate a competence in Mathematics.
- If you are interested in anything scientific, technical, or commercial, you will find that employers will expect you to be numerate and for some careers such as teaching, midwifery etc Mathematics GCSE is essential.
