Those students who want to progress to higher education or management in Hairdressing/Beauty Therapy Salons.
Course Content
Units of study Hairdressing:
- Managing health and safety in the salon.
- Managing physical resources.
- Managing client care.
- Producing a business plan.
- Hair and scalp disorders.
- Hairdressing colour correction.
- Advanced hairdressing product knowledge.
- Hairdressing style design.
- Intermediate trichology for hairdressing salons (2 units).
Units of study Beauty Therapy:
- Beauty therapy, anatomy and physiology.
- Advanced beauty product knowledge.
- Massage.
- Historic and contemporary beauty therapy practice.
- Use aromatherapy in a salon.
Entry RequirementsLearning & Assessment Methods
You will learn through a variety of different methods including: Formal lectures, Practical sessions, Classroom activity, Distance learning / research, Seminars, Discussions/debates, Group work.
Candidates will be assessed through: Written reports, essays, presentations, vocationally based projects, case studies.
Qualifications Gained
City & Guilds Level 4 Professional Certificate in Technical Salon Management (4450).
Progression Opportunities
At the end of the course, successful students should be able to demonstrate to prospective employers that they have the personal skills, experience and academic background to meet the needs of the industry. After successful completion of the course students may wish to progress onto a full Foundation Degree in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Management.
