Time Part-Time

Content Two evening practical studio workshops lasting 4.5 hrs allow students to achieve 3 units (AS) in Year 1 and, if desired, progress to 3 further units (Full A level,A2) in Year 2. One workshop introduces 3D encouraging experimentation and personal work in materials such as clay, plaster, card, wire, glass and stone. The second evening concentrates upon drawing and painting, investigating observation, composition and life drawing. Students will be encouraged to follow their own creative direction in building a personal portfolio and relating their work to that of other artists and designers. NOTE: Progression from AS to A2 will be dependent on a successful grade at AS and consultation with tutor.

Assessment AS taken in one year. Units carry on to full A2 - year 2. 2 units are personal coursework with 1 a practical test.

Further Study AS (Year 1) can lead to full A level (A2). Some students have used this programme as a portfolio-builder for higher Art and Design courses.

Career Prospects See above. Succesful students have progressed onto Foundation Diploma at TCAT or gone on to degree courses.

Other Information An ideal opportunity for anyone of any age or experience with an enthusiasm for creative work to improve their art and design work and build up an exciting portfolio. Students with a high GCSE Art or Design grade have used this course to gain a full A level.
