Manicure / Pedicure
This intensive part time course is about providing manicure and pedicure treatments to clients.

Course Content:

• Applying skin and cuticle treatments
• Buffing
• Consultation
• Contra-indications
• Filing the nails
• Homecare
• Massage of feet and lower legs
• Massage of hands and forearms
• Nail polishing
• Personal appearance, health and hygiene
• Relevant anatomy and physiology
• Removal of excessive hard skin
• Underpinning knowledge

Kit/Uniform:
Kit costs are in the region of 100. A uniform is compulsory for this course in accordance with Industry Codes of Practice. The College dress code for this course is a white tunic or dress, white trousers or skirt and flat enclosed black or white shoes. Information on suppliers will be sent out with joining instructions. Entry Requirements:
Applicants should possess a good standard of literacy and numeracy. Applicants should also be over 18 years old.

Entry Process:
Acceptance on the course will be determined by telephone interview.

Assessment:
Learners will undertake written papers and practical assessments during the course. A final portfolio of work, based around a given workbook will need to be submitted for proof of competence.

Progession Routes: Students may like to progress to other part-time courses in Beauty Therapy offered by the College, such as in make-up, nails, and waxing.

Career Options:
It may be possible to gain employment in a salon performing manicure and/or pedicure treatments. However, please note that this course is principally designed as a foundation course for the purpose of progressing to further qualifications.
