Is this course right for me?

This NVQ is a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates the holders competence to carry out mechanical repair and maintenance as a Marine Engineer. An NVQ is a practical-based qualification which assesses skills and knowledge that Engineers need to perform effectively.

What will I be learning?

You will be assessed carrying out a range of Marine Engineering mechanical practical activities. These include Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements, using and interpreting engineering data and documentation, working efficiently and effectively in engineering, locating faults and repairing marine mechanical equipment and Carrying out scheduled maintenance on marine mechanical equipment.

How will I learn?

You will be assessed in your workplace on your ability to carry out a range of skilled tasks. To show your skills and understanding you build a portfolio of evidence. Underpinning knowledge will be checked by a range methods.

What else might I want to know?

The suitability of the work placement will be checked by one of our trained assessors.
