Course Overview This course is designed to give learners an introduction to and basic knowledge of therapeutic aromatherapy massage and how to use essential oils safely and effectively. Learners need to bring the following to the first class: Notepad and pen, TWO large towels. Learners should be aware that this is a progressional course and it is important to attend every session.

Qualification gained: This course does not lead to a formal qualification.

Course Content: The course will cover: Week 1: What is Aromatherapy? Essential Oils- what they are and where they come from. When to massage and when not to massage? Week 2: Passage of oils into the body. Exploration of the benefits of massage, Oil profiles, massaging the back. Week 3: Extraction of Oils, Therapeutic properties of Essential Oils. Oil profiles, massaging the back. Week 4: Blending oils, Oil profiles, massaging the back of the leg Week 5: Dosage and Safety, Oil Profiles, Massaging the front of the leg. Week 6: Carrier Oils, Oil profiles, massaging the hand and arms Week 7: Essential Oils and therapeutic treatments, Oil profiles, massaging the stomach Week 8: Essential Oils and therapeutic treatments, Oil profiles, massaging the face and shoulders Week 9: Aromatherapyfirst aid kit, performing a Full Body massage. Week 10: Performing a Full Body massage

Work Experience: Learners do not need to be in relevant work to undertake this course.

Course Assessment: Progress on this course will be assessed through observation, lecturer and peer feedback.

Progression: Learners can progress laterally to other aromatherapy or massage courses.

Homework: There will be no homework for this course.

Additional Costs: There will be a charge to cover cost of materials used on the course.
