About this course
You will need to be 18 years of age or above. You will need to complete an initial test, but this will not prevent you from enrolling on the course. Kit is required and will cost approx £115.00 - £232.50. Uniform will cost approx £52.00 and the polo shirt will cost approx £12.00.

Is the course for me?
This course is suitable for you if you are interested in learning basic skills in hairdressing and beauty. You will gain knowledge and skills that will enable you to be an assistant hairdresser and progress onto the level 2 programme.
What will I learn?
You will lean basic hairdressing knowledge and skills. The contents are: Health & Safety, reception, team work, prepare and maintain hair services, shampoo/conditioning and assisting with hair services. You will practice cutting, colouring and perming on blocks and develop on to your family and friends within a realistic working environment. The Academy has a policy that all students wear a uniform at all times, students will also have to supply their own equipment. Order forms are available from The Academy. Price of the complete uniform is £53.45 - tunic, trousers and shoes. Price of polo shirt is £12.00 for theory lesson. Price of the equipment is £115.00 - £232.50.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via practical observation, completion of a log book, written assignments and written tests.
What can I do after the course?
You can progress onto a level two Hairdressing qualification offered at the college.
