Course Structure
This course is for people who are in a caring role within the Health and Social care sector. You may be employed full or part-time, paid or voluntary. The course benefits both you and the organisation you work for with the advantages of E-portfolio. The Health and Social Care NVQ is based on National Occupation Standards that have been introduced to raise the quality of service provided in the sector.

The award allows people to become more competent and confident in their work and will increase their value in the employment market. It will also enable candidates to progress to further education and training. We are also providing learners with the opportunity to complete qualification within the award in literacy and numeracy.

This course is usually work based and assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence in which you will demonstrate your competence in the following. There is the opportunity for students to work electronically within the programme.

Core Units
  • Communicate with, and complete records for individuals
  • Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
  • Develop your knowledge and practice
  • Ensure your own action support the care, protection and well-being of individuals


You will also complete two optional units which are selected to complement your particular role.
