Course Details

The course is made up of units or areas of activity in the workplace. NVQs are practical work-based qualifications that are recognised by employers and colleges throughout the UK. They are awarded to people who have proved their skill, knowledge and understanding of all aspects of their job. These qualifications demonstrate an individual's occupational competence in their job role. There are six mandatory units: 1. Contribute to effective working relationships 2. Maintain the safety and security of the load, self and property 3. Contribute to the provision of customer service 4. Complete pre-journey and post-journey procedures 5. Planning the route and timings for the delivery and collection of loads 6. Transport goods and materials Optional units select 1 unit 1. Handling goods and materials 2. Handling goods (Motorcycle and pedal cycle) Candidates must obtain all 6 mandatory units plus 1 optional unit for a full award. Carry and Deliver Goods is for candidates involved in the transport and delivery of goods by light vehicle, van, motor cycle or pedal cycle. It involves the individual being able to work effectively both on their own and with others and to observe health, safety and security guidelines. In addition candidates have to exhibit the ability to develop good customer service skills, complete pre and post delivery routines and plan routes and timings for journeys. It will also enable you to broaden your knowledge of related haulage topics and help you to prepare for the new Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).

Qualifications required:
There are no formal entry requirements and no prior qualifications are required, although the candidate will be asked to take a short literacy and numeracy assessment.

Course length:
Candidates will work at their own pace and as negotiated with the assessor. The qualification is usually completed within twelve months.

Venue:
The Programme is delivered in the candidate's workplace.
