Course Details
The course is made up of units or areas of activity in the workplace. NVQs are practical work-based qualifications that are recognised by employers and colleges throughout the UK. They are awarded to people who have proved their skill, knowledge and understanding of all aspects of their job. These qualifications demonstrate an individuals occupational competence in their job role. There are three mandatory units: 1. Conform to general workplace safety 2. Conform to efficient work practices Either:- 3. Prepare plant or machinery for operational performance lifting plant or machines Or:- 4. Prepare plant or machinery for operational performance transferring plant or machines Optional units select 1 unit from these two:- 1. Direct and guide the movement of plant machinery slinger/signaller 2. Direct and guide the movement of plant machinery loader/securer and Optional units select 1 unit from these two:- 3. Arrange and secure loads slinger/signaller 4. Arrange and secure loads loader/securer Candidates must obtain 3 mandatory units plus 2 optional units. 1 from each of the optional sections for a full award. The primary objective of the Plant Operations qualification is to contribute to the development of a competent workforce as a whole. This can be done where possible by integrating NVQs into the organisations models for personnel and business development and recognizing the competence of the people who make up the workforce at all levels.

Course length:
Candidates work a pace negotiated with the assessor and the qualification is usually completed within six months.
