Is it right for me?
Under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipments Regulations 1998 and Working At Heights Regulations 2005,workers in arboriculture have to consider using a MEWP to carry out tree'work operations. This qualification enables candidates to obtain a certificate of competence in the operation of a chainsaw from the MEWP.

What qualifications will I need?
NPTC Certificate of Competence Unit 30.

NPTC Certificate of Competence Unit 31.

A suitable certificate of competence in operating a MEWP (eg NPTC or equivalent)

What will I be learning about?

• Carry out pre'use inspection and set up prior to using a MEWP
• Set up a MEWP for work
• Achieve a safe working position
• Operate a chainsaw to remove lateral limbs
• Operate a chainsaw to remove vertical limbs

What materials are required?
Chainsaw boots and suitable outdoor clothing. Basic stationery and writing materials.
PLEASE NOTE: All students must bring a passport size photograph on the first day of their course and their national insurance number.

How will I be assessed?
By an external assessor on the final day of the course.
