- To provide low tech tips for checking childrens online activities and an explanation of popular parental control strategies . Subjects covered include:
- Internet threats
- Internet awareness

Course Content:
Subjects studied within this course include:
- An overview of the dangers facing children who use the Internet
- Services children use on the Internet
- General safety guidelines for parents and children
- How to set up an operating system (XP or Vista) to block /allow specific sites
- How to use an operating system firewall (XP or Vista)
- How to check sites children have visited on the Internet
- An overview of types and use of additional Internet protection
- An overview of instant messaging and social networking sites
- Using family contracts
