A Programme-Led Apprenticeship in Hairdressing could help you to gain employment in your chosen occupation and may provide a direct route onto the full Apprenticeship FoundationProgramme (NVQ Level 2). This programme is aimed at young people aged between 16-18 who are interested in gaining technical expertise and employability skills. Attending College and having a work-placement with a local employer will help you to gain valuable work experience and skills.

What will I learn?
Whilst in College you will gain the knowledge and understanding which will help you to achieve a NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing. Mandatory units:- *Make Sure Your Own Actions Reduce Risks to Health & Safety *Contribute to the Development of Effective Working Relationships *Shampoo & Condition Hair *Prepare for Hair Services and Maintain Work Areas Optional Units:- *Assist with Salon Reception Duties *Assist with Hair Colouring Services *Blow Dry Hair *Assist with Perming Hair Services You will gain practical experience during your time in college which you can then transfer into Salon during your work placement. As the course progresses you will be working with an employer for two, three or four days per week. This will give you the opportunity to show the employer your willingness to learn and your employability skills. Developing your interpersonal skills will form part of the course this will help you to develop and improve both your verbal and written communication skills. Where possible we include relevant sector related subjects. This will include a variety of beauty treatments. You will also be able to undertake team building exercises through taking part in the enrichment activities we run in college. Key Skills may also be required in Application of Number and Communication at Level 1.

How will I be assessed?
During your course you will be continually assessed, including on line exams, direct observations in the work place, oral and written question and answer sessions, six projects and reflective practice. You will also complete a portfolio of course evidence.

What can I do after the course?
Once you have completed the Programme-Led Apprenticeship there is the opportuntiy for you to progress onto the full Apprenticeship programme.
