PRINCIPLES OF COSHH LEVEL 1

Who is this course for?

Candidates will be able to identify the hazards associated with those substances, the risks and controls available and what to expect from a COSHH assessment. All employees should attend this course. This is a stand-alone level 1 qualification, which complements the CIEH Health and Safety programme. It is aimed at those who use substance hazardous to health at work and introduces students to the hazards associated with those substances, the risks and controls available and what to expect from a COSHH assessment.

Completion will prepare candidates to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in co-operation with their managers and supervisors. Candidates will be made aware of COSHH assessments and control options, and the responsibilities imposed by the control of substances hazardous to health regulations 1992.

It is strongly recommended that students hold the CIEH Foundation Certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace prior to taking this qualification.
