Dancers can progress to a Beginners class with the Award of an RSCDS Assessment of Dancing Ability Level 1. This course is suitable for A varied programme of dancing in a Scottish context which can provide social enjoyment at weddings, holidays and other occasions as well as promoting health and fitness. The participants will be able to dance 5 popular Scottish Ceilidh/party dances (Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow, Gay Gordons plus 2 other) and 4 Scottish Country Dances (from a selection at RSCDS Beginner Level).

SCOTTISH DANCING

Who is this course for?

A varied programme of dancing in a Scottish context which can provide social enjoyment at weddings, holidays and other occasions as well as promoting health and fitness. The participants will be able to dance 5 popular Scottish Ceilidh/party dances (Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow, Gay Gordons plus 2 other) and 4 Scottish Country Dances (from a selection at RSCDS Beginner Level).

There are no high kicks or complicated steps included at this level. Dancers dance together as part of a set so everyone helps each other. Learners will concentrate on the individual dances listed so that they can learn these well and dance them with confidence. The final session takes the form of a Scottish Ceilidh dancing to live music and other entertainment.
