Course Details

For those employed in the learning and skills sector the course provides Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status. A flexible programme of two years part-time study, where students work on modules to suit individual and organisational needs in the following role areas: Teaching, Learning and Assessment Personal and Professional Development Teaching a Specialist Subject Curriculum and Professional Issues A component of the Teaching a Specialist Subject module is delivered on-line by the University and also requires attendance at the University of Huddersfield for one Saturday in November and two days in July in the second year of the course. Please note: Achievement of this qualification does not confer Qualified Teacher Status for schools (QTS).

Additional info:
All applicants must acquire the support of a subject specialist mentor throughout the course.Applicants must be able to demonstrate breadth of teaching. A reference is required as part of the application process requesting confirmation that the applicant will be working as a paid teacher/trainer, with direct responsibility for Post-14 students (in the appropriate context), for a minimum of 75 hours per academic year.

Progression:
Foundation Degree in Education; Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Education and Training or an appropriate Masters degree for those holding a first degree.

Session times:
5pm - 9pm (Monday), 1pm - 5pm Thursday, 9am - 1pm (Fri)

Days running:
Monday, Friday (Year 1). Monday, Thursday (Year 2)
