Singing for Pleasure Peabody Centre

Course content:
Singing for Pleasure is based at the Peabody Centre, Elmwood Court, 38 Battersea Park road, SW11 2JE.
Come and sing familiar and new music with a lively group of older people, singing together or solo. In addition there are opportunities to perform to others in the community.
The students will learn to use their voices more efficiently in a way that befits their age-group by singing and working towards performing projects. The learners will study from worksheets, handouts and their own music / repertoire books. Other handouts on specific technical matters covered in class will be supplied by the tutor.
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Stand and breathe correctly for singing.
- Demonstrate musical and historical knowledge of the music they sing.
- Take part in a termly public performance.

Course Structure:
Each class begins with group exercises. Each week the repertoire covered follows a specific topic, including Saints Days and global Festivals, and there is preparation for an extra-curricular public performance. Methods used are demonstration, Master Class, Q & A and discussion.

Piano and stool in teaching room, Easy access via lift. Tutor's wordsheets and music. Own books

Assessment:
Initial at first class, formative throughout and summative at end of term

Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
None. Optional purchase of music for own solos.
