Soft Furnishing

Course content:
This course will teach you how to make a variety of beautiful soft furnishings items for your home to a professional standard
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Measure your windows for blinds and curtains
- Choose & estimate fabric requirements for blinds & curtains.
- Understand the processes involved in blind and curtain making
- Make a piped cushion cover with zip fastening
Learners with prior knowledge will be able to create more advanced soft furnishings such as interlined curtains and blinds, bed coverings, decorative cushions, lampshades, etc…

Course Structure:
Classes typically have 14 learners working on their assignments after completing samples of soft furnishing techniques. There will be demonstrations as appropriate.

Course resources:
You will have the use of all equipment in the workroom which includes:- SEWING MACHINES, OVERLOCKERS, IRONS & METAL RULERS. You will have access to the learning Centre in Putney & Tooting. This includes the use of computers & books

tutor feedback. Homework. Learner Self-assessment

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
You will need to supply all fabrics, haberdashery & your own sewing equipment, list available at first session
