Soft Furnishings - Small Projects for Interiors

Course content:
Students will learn how to use the sewing machine controls, threading techniques, embroidery stitches. They will leave the course feeling confident to work independently
By the end of the course students will:
- Be able to use a sewing machine and overlocker
- Be inspired to design and make small items for the home
- have the opportunity to share skills and ideas by contributing to a group project
- be able to embroidery a variety of stitches

Course Structure:
Students will work on their own at their own pace covering various subjects. They will be given constant guidance and group teaching

Course resources:
Students will have access to a workroom with Bernina machines and over-lockers. Irons and boards, scrap fabric will be available

Assessment:
Photos of completed work, displays, Individual Learning Plans

Other sewing courses e.g. clothes making, textiles etc

Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
None. Students need to bring a basic sewing kit, notebook and A4 folder
