Supervisory Development Level 2 Certificate
This programme aims to provide you with underpinning knowledge and understanding of the broad range of responsibilities involved in taking a supervisory role within the workplace. It is also intended for people who have recently entered, or wish to progress to a supervisory position.

Course Content:
This programme consists of eight core modules:

  • MODULE 1 The Role of the Supervisor in the Management of Others
  • Company structures, responsibility and authority and the effective supervisor.
  • MODULE 2 Effective Time Management
  • Use of time, techniques for planning time, the benefits of effective time management.
  • MODULE 3 The Recruitment and Selection of Staff
  • The process of recruitment, the interview process and the induction process.
  • MODULE 4 Supervising the Section or Department
  • Planning, co-ordination of activities, controlling activities, leadership and motivation of staff.
  • MODULE 5 Effective Communication
  • Communication techniques and their issues, and the effective communicator.
  • MODULE 6 Basic Finance for the Supervisor
  • The need for financial control, the impact of finance on operations and profit implications.
  • MODULE 7 Analysing Training Needs for Staff
  • The staff appraisal and appraisal process.
  • MODULE 8 Personal Development
  • Personal development of staff and personal development of self.

    Entry Requirements:
    As this is a work-based course, applicants should be employed in an appropriate work setting.

    Assessment:
    Workbook based assessment and observation of practice.

    Progression Routes:
    Studnets may progress to the Health and Social Care NVQ Level 2.

    Career Options:
    Progression within the health and social care sector including nursing and social worker (but only with further study).
