Is it right for me?
The Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the LifeLong Learning Sector (CTLLS) is for pre'service or in'service teachers or associate teachers, and is aimed at candidates who are deemed to be in an associate teacher role or would like an introduction to teaching/training/tutoring in the LifeLong Learning Sector or are seeking career progression within their area of work.
It is designed as a qualification which will equip a wide range of teachers and facilitators with a "threshold licence to teach".
If this course is taken as part of the 2 year DTLLS programme, mandatory funding is available to candidates from their local Education Authority.

What qualifications will I need?
The qualification provides progression from the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the LifeLong Learning Sector for those new to teaching and training, or those wishing to teach or train.
Literacy and numeracy at level 2 and special knowledge qualification of the subject to be taught.

What will I be learning about?
The Certificate comprises three mandatory units with a total value of 18 credits and optional units to the value of a minimum of 6 credits, making a minimum total value of 24 credits. 6 credits are brought forward from the Award in Preparing to Teach in the LifeLong Learning Sector or Stage 1 or the Certificate in Delivering Learning (an Introduction).
The Certificate requires at least 30 hours of teaching practice with a minimum of 3 observations totalling a minimum of 3 hours.
The Mandatory Units are: Preparing to Teach in the LifeLong Learning Sector (unless completed as a separate unit); Planning and Enabling Learning; Principles and Practice of Assessment.
