Is the course for me?
From September 2007, all new entrants to teaching in the lifelong learning sector will be required to complete a new award which will prepare them to teach. This qualification will therefore be mandatory for any new teacher who teachers publicly funded provision. The Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector qualification is a short introductory course which will confer the threshold licence to teach. If teaching, tutoring or training is part of your remit, you may be required to progress to a further qualification appropriate to your role.

What will I learn?
During this course you will study a number of topics including: Understanding your own role,responsibilties and boundries Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches Demonstrate session planning skills Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions Understand the use of different assessment methods

How will I be assessed?
By assignment and continuous assessment. There is also a micro-teach component at the end of the course.

What can I do after the course?
Progression to Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (C&G 7304) or the Certificate of Education in Teaching in the Learning and Skills sector (DTLLS) (Subject to meeting the entry criteria)
